What to do if the Data is Inaccurate

The Registry is responsible for overseeing and managing the data stored within the Student Record; however, this data are often the day-to-day responsibility of appropriate individuals within the University (for example, the Director of Studies of an undergraduate student).

If any personal or address data is incorrect, please email the appropriate Registry Student Record Team as follows:

College of Humanities and Social Science

studentrecords.hss@ed.ac.uk

College of Science and Engineering

studentrecords.sce@ed.ac.uk

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

studentrecords.mvm@ed.ac.uk

The correction will normally be processed within 2 working days of receipt (which means that MyEd should display the corrected data within 3 days from submission) although, at busy times of the year (such as matriculation, examination and graduation periods), it may take a little longer. Please note that only permanent address changes will be accepted (temporary address changes during exam results issue for instance will not be recorded centrally; it is each student's responsibility to make arrangements for redirection of mail where required).

If the programme of study information or course enrolment information is incorrect, then undergraduate students should contact their Director of Studies, and postgraduate students their programme director (details can be found within the MyEd 'Programme of Study' channel). The data will be corrected as appropriate. Clearly, it is vital that programme and course information be as accurate as possible.

It should be noted, however, that the Student Record system does not currently store centrally all course information relating to students. Results for honours courses prior to session 2004/2005 are not currently stored although, of course, these form the overall degree classification awarded.
